Artist Statement
Anabelle Moghadam is an aspiring visual artist deeply interested in human relations and
the inner world of emotions and personal perceptions.
The project „For MAMA“ is her way to accompany and show that she sees and observes
her mother in her own journey of coping with the grief of losing a mother. Metaphorically
connecting three generations, Anabelle privately depicts the ritual her mother is
consistently doing every day as leaving a bit of their meals for her passed away mother.
As methodical, persistent and ordered in its own way this process is shown through
photographic documentation made in the context of what is known as photographic
typologies through the history of photography. Showing the continuity and the
persistence of the ritual as a way of healing and dealing with the present reality the
photographs are also made in similar manner – methodical, ordered and simply portrayed
as a contrast to the inner complexity of feelings and chaos they are connected to.
The artist leaves free places in the grid as space for her mother’s continuing ritual that
maybe one day would make 4 walls of photographs.
